The Aftermath

Tarantino’s subsequent career compounded the Pulp Fiction gain. The cast effects of Pulp Fiction were structural. Samuel L. Jackson became one of the dominant working actors of the next thirty years, with the Star Wars prequel trilogy and the Marvel Cinematic Universe absorbing significant portions of his later filmography. Uma Thurman moved into leading roles and reunited with Tarantino for Kill Bill.

The Miramax pipeline continued through the 2000s before declining commercial returns and the company’s eventual sale by Disney to Filmyard Holdings in 2010 for approximately $660 million. Harvey Weinstein and Bob Weinstein had left Miramax in 2005 to found The Weinstein Company. The streaming-era acquisition models that Netflix, Apple TV+, and Amazon Studios built across the 2010s and 2020s inherited Miramax’s operational template at a different scale.
